for King Island Council
REHBEIN Airport Consulting was appointed to prepare a Master Plan for King Island Airport. King Island Council required a simple and cost effective document which would nevertheless provide a clear strategic ‘road map’ for future airport facilities managers to ensure that airport development on the existing site proceeds in the most effective manner. The Master Plan provides a concept for economical, incremental development which Council can implement in accordance with the availability of funding.
Immediate requirements are identied in detail to address operational incompatibilities between passenger and dedicated freight operations, which are expected to be exacerbated on completion of terminal expansion works currently under construction. The Master Plan also provides concept layouts for the RPT apron to accommodate larger aircraft consistent with the expanded terminal capacity.
Longer term provision for general aviation facilities, relocation of the Aero Club, consolidation of rental car facilities, future access road improvements and the possibility of commercial non-aviation development sites are also outlined in the Master Plan.
