Manjimup Airport Feasibility & Site Selection Studies

for Shire of Manjimup

REHBEIN Airport Consulting was commissioned by the Shire of Manjimup to undertake the Manjimup Airport Study. The study set out the short, medium and long-term aeronautical infrastructure requirements for Manjimup based on aviation opportunities related to possible fly-in, fly-out opportunities to resources projects in northern Western Australia, together with potential commercial and land development opportunities.

The study assessed the potential of the existing airport site to accommodate the required infrastructure and facilities to take advantage of the identified opportunities. An alternate airport site earmarked by the Shire was also assessed for its appropriateness and ability to accommodate the required infrastructure. Capital costs associated with the development of both sites were prepared and the relative advantages and disadvantages of each site were assessed. The study allowed the Shire of Manjimup to make a preliminary decision on the extent to which the existing airport site would be capable of accommodating future development.

REHBEIN Airport Consulting subsequently provided specialist aviation advice to assist Cardno in a broader site assessment of additional sites, to identify a preferred site for long-term development to serve the future aviation needs of Manjimup.
